August 16, 2000: The Expos announced the signing of 1B Lee Stevens to a two-year contract extension.

August 14, 2000:
SS Orlando Cabrera was activated from the DL, and SS Tomas De La Rosa was optioned to Ottawa.

August 11, 2000:
P Scott Downs was placed on the 15-day DL, C Brian Schneider was optioned to Ottawa, and C Michael Barrett was recalled from Ottawa.

July 20, 2000:
The Expos announced the firings of pitching coach Bobby Cuellar and bench coach Luis Pujols, and the appointments of Brad Arnsberg and Jeff Cox as their replacements.

July 19, 2000:
Placed outfielder Terry Jones on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right quadriceps; recalled outfielder Milton Bradley from Ottawa; placed pitcher Tony Armas on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right rotator cuff; recalled pitcher Guillermo Mota from Ottawa. 

July 14, 2000: Rondell White was placed on the 15-day DL, while SS Orlando Cabrera separated his right shoulder, and will be out for 3 to 6 weeks.

July 5, 2000: Vladimir Guerrero and Jose Vidro will take part in the All-Star game on Tuesday, July 11, 2000 in Atlanta.

July 2, 2000: RHP Ugueth Urbina will undergo surgery on Thursday to repair his right elbow. He is out for the remainder of the season, but should be healthy for spring training next year.

June 27, 2000: RHP Carl Pavano was placed on the 15-day DL with right-triceps tendonitis, and RHP Guillermo Mota was recalled from Ottawa.

June 22, 2000: C Brian Schneider was optioned to Ottawa and 1B Fernando Seguinol was recalled from Ottawa, while C Charlie O'Brien was released and C Lenny Webster was activated off the disabled list.

June 17, 2000: LHP David Moraga was designated for assignment, RHP Guillermo Mota was optioned to Ottawa, while RHP Brad Rigby and LHP Scott Forster were recalled from Ottawa.

June 13, 2000: INF Michael Barrett was recalled from Ottawa, and INF Trace Coquillette was optioned to Ottawa.

June 10, 2000: LHP David Moraga was called up from Harrisburg to take the place of T.J. Tucker on the roster.

June 9, 2000: RHP T.J. Tucker was placed on the 15-day disabled list with elbow tendinitis.

June 2, 2000: LHP Jim Poole was designated for assignment, and INF Andy Tracy was optioned to Ottawa. RHP T.J Tucker was recalled from Ottawa, and RHP Anthony Telford was activated from the disabled list.

May 26, 2000: C Brian Schneider was recalled from Ottawa. RHP Mike Thurman was placed on 15-DL. INF Trace Coquillette was recalled from Ottawa.

May 25, 2000: RHP Scott Strickland was transferred to the 60-day disabled list with shoulder tendinitis, and the team purchased the contract of C Charlie O'Brien. C Chris Widger was placed on the 15-DL with a bad left hand.

May 19, 2000: LHP Jim Poole was signed by the Expos on Friday. LHP Matt Blank will likely be sent down to Ottawa to make room for Poole.

May 12, 2000: 3B Michael Barrett was sent down to Ottawa, RHP Ugueth Urbina was placed on the 15-day disabled list, RHP Tony Armas Jr was recalled from Ottawa.

May 11, 2000: Ugueth Urbina will undergo surgery to repair his right elbow, he is lost for the rest of the season.

May 10, 2000: Ugueth Urbina will undergo an MRI on Thursday after reporting a twinge in his elbow while throwing on Wednesday.

May 9, 2000: RHP Scott Strickland was placed on the 15-day disabled list with tendinitis, retroactive to May 3.

May 5, 2000: LHP Graeme Lloyd underwent surgery in L.A. to repair his left shoulder. He may return to action by September 1.

Tuesday, March 28, 2000: The Expos sent 2B Mickey Morandini to the Philadelphia Phillies for cash on Tuesday morning.

Monday, 27 March, 2000: Montreal cut its roster by three, sending OF Milton Bradley and 1B-OF Fernando Seguinol to Ottawa, and optioning RHP Shayne Bennett.

Thursday, 23 March, 2000: The Expos placed RHP Mike Thurman on the 15-day disabled list with elbow tendinitis. Thurman will miss the start of the season, and will be replaced in the starting rotation by RHP Jeremy Powell.

Wednesday, 22 March, 2000:The Expos sent RHP Christian Parker to the New York Yankees as the second player to be named later in the trade that brought RHP Hideki Irabu to Montreal.

Friday, 17 March, 2000:
The Expos sent LHP Ted Lilly to the New York Yankees as the first player to be named later in the trade for Hideki Irabu.

Thursday, 16 March,2000:
The Expos completed a three-team three-player trade on Thursday. The Expos sent 1B Brad Fullmer to Toronto, who traded 1B David Segui to Texas, with the Expos receiving 1B Lee Stevens.  more


Thursday, March 2, 2000: The Expos announced the signing of 5 players, including 3B Michael Barrett and LHP Steve Kline. The team now has all 40 players on the winter roster under contract for the upcoming season.

Monday, February 21, 2000: RHP Hideki Irabu has been cleared to pitch and resume his normal spring training routine. The bone chips found in his elbow are not considered serious, and Irabu may have surgery at the end of this season.

Tuesday, February 8, 2000: The new Expos downtown stadium will be built south of the Molson Centre, bordered by Peel, Notre Dame, de la Montagne, and St. Jacques streets. It will cost $200 million, and will have 36,287 seats. the entrance will be at the corner of Peel and Notre Dame, where a commercial plaza will be located. The stadium will have a translucent facade, allowing fans on the outside to see inside the stadium. There will be 66 corporate loges, and fans sections beside each dugout, separated by glass, allowing fans to see into the dugouts and be close to the players. There will be a section in right-field, at field level, to be called the Guerrero Gang, with room for 150 fans. The naming rights have not been finalized, an announcement is expected in the next couple of weeks.

Thursday, January 27, 2000: Mickey Morandini signed a minor-league contract with the Expos, and was invited to the Expos spring training camp.

Wednesday, January 19, 2000: The Expos announced that they had invited Maury Wills and Jeff Torborg to spring training as special assignment instructors. Wills will work on base stealing while Torborg will handle the catchers.

Tuesday, January 18, 2000: The Expos signed Dustin Hermanson to a three-year contract with an option for a fourth year. Hermanson was 9-14 with a 4.20 ERA in 1999.

Saturday, January 15, 2000: The Expos announced they had reached a two-year agreement with right-handed relief pitcher Anthony Telford. Telford will earn $700,000 in 2000 and $1,150,000 in 2001. The Expos have a $1,350,000 option for 2002.  

Wednesday, December 15, 1999:
The Expos obtained Hideki Irabu in a trade with the New York Yankees. The Expos gave up promising RHP Jake Westbrook and a player to be named later in order to get Irabu, a potential No. 3 starter.

Monday, December 13, 1999: The Expos announced the signing of free-agent pitcher Graeme Lloyd to a three-year $9 million contract.

Thursday, December 9, 1999: New Expos managing partner Jeffrey Loria held his first news conference Thursday. He promised a championship team and an exciting team. The Expos will increase their payroll by 50% and will enter the free-agent market in search of exciting new talent.

Saturday, December 4, 1999: The Expos announced the hiring of Larry Beinfest  as the team's new Assistant General Manager. Beinfest will serve as GM Jim Beattie's right-hand man in such matters as contract negotiations and salary arbitration cases.
